How do we get benefited from reading Mantras? What exactly happens after we read stotras or shlokas or read scriptures or Puranas?

Does it give the benefit through the vibrations produced, controlling the Mind, give us the feeling of presence of Brahman in and around us? Overall healthy and peaceful life...

Details of Chanting Mantras
This whole Universe is manifested in Energy field, which then forms micro particles which then combine to form big bodies like stars, solar system, planets and finally form forms. Ultimately everything is made of energy particles.

Sound influences the alignment or arrangement of these particles. Many research studies have shown how amazingly particles are aligned due to the effect of sound. See this video below.

more on physics of sound .

When we chant mantras, sound frequency will create a magnetic field around us, influencing the alignment of molecules in our body, creating, better health and more importantly correct thinking and increased awareness.

Most of our life problem arise when we avoid doing right actions at right time. Thoughts are electro-magnetic and these mantras (sound vibrations) helps in generating the right thoughts leading to happy life.

There are several mantras and naturally each will have different energy functionality. In Vedic science, the scientists discovered the mantras which will yield desired thinking leading to desired actions and results.
Guruji through his Raasi readings finds reduced energy functionality and prescribes the right sound mantras.

Mantras are initial building blocks to get to the understanding and connect ourselves to the Brahman or Consciousness (terms doesn't matter).

First Stage:
Initially when we start chanting mantras / stotras / slokas we just do it more mechanically without understanding the meaning because most of the mantras are in different language. But there is a feeling inside us which helps to focus on the present when we chant.

Second Stage:
We get bored with chanting because we don't feel the charm in the words which we use, because we don't understand. This stage is very important because lot of them drop chanting because they get bored. But instead if they start searching what is that we are actually chanting it will take them to the third stage.

Third Stage:
We try to understand the meaning of the mantras because most of the mantras are not in an individual's mother tongue. Since there are thousands of mantras and it is in various languages we feel it is very hard for us to learn all the language. Here also some of them tend to leave the course because some will think it will be impossible to learn all the language, so there is no way to get the knowlesge of all mantras and they tend to go back to first stage to just chant mechanically with half known meaning. But some try to go deeper to the fourth stage.

Fourth Stage
We tend to understand the purpose of chanting instead of learning languages. Because the purpose will be same even though the language of the slokas are different. Like banana will be the same fruit in different language, the fruit is not going to change just because it is called "Vazhai Pazham" in Tamil. So we tend to look for the fruit instead of the terms used in different language.

This stage will be more blissful, because once we understand the purpose, then we try to connect the purpose of chanting with the words which we use in our daily activities and known language mostly mother tongue. Then the cinema songs, lullaby, dialogues etc. will also become chanting because we connect the meaning of the known words to brahman. At this stage for outside world you will be seen as not chanting because you are not following the protocol as described in the first stage, but you know for yourself that you are chanting in your customized way which is more blissful than the mechanical way.

Customized cars are much more expensive than the mass production cars. It is up to us which model we settle for.

Fifth Stage
The chanting stops because the connection to consciousness becomes permanent and every thought arising becomes chanting naturally.

Amazing video.Thanks for uploading.

So if we chant Mantras without making sound i.e. internally, Won't the reduced energy functionality increase?

What about the effect of Japa on the energy functionality??

As we always try to connect to the only One Almighty, Now, suppose we understand the meaning of the lyrics in the stotram for eg: Kanakadhara stotram. Here Adi shankarachaya prays sri mahalakshmi with this stotram to bless the poor brahmin lady who doesn't have anything to give except the rotten amla to the bal shankaracharya who stood in front of her door on the dwadasi day. With this he also prays for the wellness of the whole universe.

Now we start saying the stotram by praising Sri Hari along with Sri mahaLakshmi by understanding its meaning and ask to burn our past karma and bless Ashtalakshmi on us.

Now, why do we chant so many different stotras, kanakadhara, ardhanareeshwara etc etc...also read puranas where even there the ultimate essence would be the same? Why shiva purana, why Ramayana or Sunderakanda, finally it is only the One Consciousness principle?

@Neelima

All the stotras are expression of individual's like Shankara, Valmiki, Vyasar, Tulasidas etc. perception.

Shankara's concept was questioned by Ramanujar. After that Ramanujar's concept was questioned by Madhavacharya, but all three of them joined at the same juncture. So the same concept was expressed in three different ways and different stotras by these three individuals.

This is the free will we have, express in our own way what we have understood (customized car). But eventually join at the same junture. (Eventually we want to have a car which can drive)

If we want to chant all mantras available in the world before we can start understanding the meaning and purpose, then we might need to ask Kala to stop for sometime until the entire list is completed. But instead if we understand a purpose of just one stotras completely and start connecting it to all, then we will have enough time to express ouselves.

As mentioned in previous post, chanting different mantras is to make us understand that all the mantras is leading us to one juncture. Few need just one, few need more than one to understand. This is like a teacher implementing different techniques to teach the same concept unless the student understands.

These stotras are training tools. Once a student got trained using the tool, a creative student will try to customize to use it for diffferent field and end up designing new tools, but a non creative student will keep using the tool for which it was designed initially for. The creative students end up as inventors and non creative students end up as consumers.

It doesn't matter which mantra we chant, the purpose is more important than the mere words in the stotras. Saints like Thiru Kuripu Thondar didn't chant any of these mantras, but they are considered enlightened individuals.

QUALITY is more important than QUANTITY. There are so many examples for this understanding in puranas. For example Krishna eating one grain of food to satisfy the hunger of Dhuruvasa and his student's hunger. Kuselan taking puffed rice to meet Krihsna, Rama eating the berry from Sabari, Krishna eating the banana skin from Vidur's wife, Valmiki chanting just Rama etc.,

An Example

A procedure which was useful for me to find the meaning and purpose of Kanakadhara stotram

As you mentioned by chanting Kanakadhara stotram we get blessed by Ashta Lakshmi. Start understanding the meaning of Ashta Lakshmi and then if you go temple try to find where they have kept ashta lakshmi and how it is kept. Try to connect the meaning, place and the manner they have kept ashta lakshmi. Then the understanding the meaning and purpose of Kanakadhara stotram will be very easy. Then you may not need to start the chanting Kanakadhara stotram with "Angam hare...", You might have a customized way to chant :cheer:

If the above procedure didn't work for you please customize it. Enjoy the searching :)
