Pongal

When someone hurts us with words, we blame them for several days or several years or life times. Infact the reality is that we enjoy that pain by replaying it in our minds like a dog that licks the blood that oozes out of its own wounds. We dont understand that   the pain gives only fake happiness. The real happiness comes like eating a sugarcane when we forgive that person and patch the relationship. This is why today on Bhogi day, we burn  the old painful thoughts  in this fire of right understanding (knowledge) so that  we can enjoy Bhogam in our life. Happy Bhogi from Uni5 Sakthi Foundation.

Sakthi Foundation wishes everyone Happy Pongal.
On this special day, we want to share the reason why we celebrate this beautiful festival.
We often share actors’ dialogues from movies and praise them by pouring flowers and milk into their cutouts. We consider them our heroes because of our emotional attachment to their emotional words and think that are real.
For example, we don’t do respectful pooja to freedom fighters and quote their words or the work they have done for society. But, we draw inspiration from actors who acted as a freedom fighter. We keep pictures of the actor and remember them always. We forget the reality that the actor is just an actor and channeled the dialogues of freedom fighters.
We self-fool ourselves and forget reality. Then we start to lead a life of irresponsibility. We like the actor who only gives dialogues in life and advice and never practices what freedom fighters did. In a few years then we experience only problems because we created a fake society of actors and cheaters. This also happens in spirituality.
People who talk Scriptures and give good talks are being adorned. We then ignore the real people who put scriptures in action. People who are bookish cannot give solutions. Same with the health industry. Most of them give health advice based on their books and what company representatives tell them. They cannot solve the health issues of people.
The same with education also. We only speak words from books. We did not work it out. Then we do not know to solve problems. We then face only problems. Then we become frustrated with life and then seek ways to hide it.
We should seek Reality and not fakeness. We should take action then only we experience real knowledge. Farmers are real workers who produce food for us. They should be heroes and not actors who act like a farmer. Pongal is the day we worship Sun indirectly the Farmer and Cow who nourishes us and the soil. Before that Bhogi is the day we burn ignorance and fakeness and fake understanding in the knowledge of fire. All wasteful things and thoughts we burn out and start a new life every year.

On Kaanum Pongal Day, we see our family, which means ‘Yaathum Oorae Yaavarum Kaelir’.  We see (Kaanum) the family not with gifts because gifts are not an Indian tradition. We see the family and help them meet their needs which could be physical, emotional, intellectual, financial, or spiritual.

On Kaanum Pongal Day we render this help for both our Micro and Macro Family (Society). This responsibility alone will build a prosperous and peaceful Society.

Taking care of only our Micro Family is Selfish and has and will cause so many social problems. This is the only way to overcome your Ego and realize your Selfless Nature or Love. That Selfless Love is God whom you are worshipping and seeking.

What you give only you will get back. That is why they say in Tamil ‘Koduththu Vatchavan’. For example, if your profession is running a catering business for a living and if your micro family eats it all without selling to the macro society, soon you cannot sustain your family. If there is no business, you end up with no income and land in poverty at all Five Levels.

This is the concept of Self-sustainability in our Indian Culture.  Not knowing the concept and meaning behind celebrating all Indian festivals and seeking fun is like licking the word “Sugar” in a printed paper and trying to experience Sweetness. Uni5 Sakthi Foundation
