Vinodha [17 years old] - photo prohibited, not permitted.

She is fatherless. She is the only daughter of a poor mother [going for daily wages] from Poraiyar slum in Nagapattinam district of Tamilnadu. She is a mentally challenged student. Her IQ level is 3 years back wards. She studied in Poraiyar R.B primary school. After 12 years she was not sent to other school because of insecurity. She likes to be in the same environment with her primary level teachers. The school has also accepted her and allowed her to come to school.

When we started our Uni5 Montesorri Sakthi Foundation Children project, she observed the various activities of our Montessori environment within the school and got attracted to them. She slowly picked up few Montessori tools and started working with them. She also loves younger children and started presenting the tools to them. She observes younger children working and also care them.

Today Vinodha knows how to handle Montessori tools and work with children. She is also safe in the school. Sakthi foundation has started paying her with Rs.500 as fixed deposit in post office. We are very happy that Dr.Montessori's educational system has provided a good and safe place with meaningful life to Vinodha..We have made her to understand that she will an assistant in this Montessori environment.

We welcome people with compassion and appreciation of her work to support her financially for her future by helping us pay more than Rs 500 a month ($ 8).

Five needs of a Child

In life, suffering is inevitable, but it could be lessened to a great extent or completely if we understood the structural and functional attributes of a human being.  To make this process simple and efficient we need to dissect out human attributes and analyze them for a thorough diagnosis and treatment.

When we suffer pain from a cut in the little finger, instead of bandaging the whole body, we need to address the finger alone. This is because we classify our body based on organ structure and function. Similarly we enumerate the needs of a child in five levels. In Sanskrit, enumerating is known as Samnkhya or numbering by dissecting.
Looking at an adult or a child from these five levels of view helps us to clearly understand the imbalance at different levels. No two human beings are similar because of the varying proportions of these five levels.

What are the five levels of needs of a child?
1.Every adult knows the physical needs of a child with regards to food, clothing and shelter.

2.Most adults alsfive needs hand childo understand the emotional needs of a child in relation to using loving words, giving attention and so on.

3.Many adults increasingly understand the necessity of the intellectual needs of a child with respect to survival skills and livelihood skills like school education.

4.Very few adults understand the Awareness needs of a child in connection to the child’s Self-identity.

5. Rarer are adults who understand the Consciousness of a child embracing the universe as wholeness.

These five attributes are the five aspects of every being in varying proportions. These five vitals are essential for the healthy growth of a child to make him/her a complete human being.

1. A child first needs complete growth of the physical needs of the body and the physical independance to eat, drink, walk and play.

2. Along with this the emotional security, confidence, attention, words of care and love is very much needed.

Each child's length of duration and intensity differs.

3. Third only is the intellectual need of a child.

Unfortunately, modern parents are too anxious and restless in catering the intellectual need of a child. Before a child has received full physical and emotional needs, they are given intellectual needs. This later creates several emotional problems.

This is like opening forcebily a flower bud before it is ready to open. Some children are naturally gifted and ready for intellectual needs even in very young age. They should be given that need. But many modern parents self create a peer-pressure and force intellectualism in children. This will cause learning problems later in life.

Aim of Education: The aim of education should be to cater to the growth of all the five aspects of the child. Any imbalance in one or more of these levels can cause serious physical, emotional, intellectual, Awareness and Consciousness problems which will then manifest in different ways in various stages of the life of the child as he/she grows into an adult.
The unification of these five elements of a being is the objective of Uni5 Education system..  The format of the manual is structured to address these five needs of a child to grow and develop to lead a happy life.

In May 2014, we are releasing a manual that is structured to address these five needs of a child to grow and develop to lead a happy life.

We also plan to conduct workshops over skype and in person. Please contact us if you are interested.

Early Childhood brain stimulation through hand activity is very important.

Farah said her results were evidence for the existence of a sensitive period, early in a person's life, that determined the optimal development of the cortex. "It really does support the idea that those early years are especially influential."

As the brain matures during childhood and adolescence, brain cells in the cortex are pruned back and, as unnecessary cells are eliminated, the cortex gets thinner. Farah found that the more cognitive stimulation a participant had had at the age of four, the thinner, and therefore more developed, their cortex. "It almost looks like whatever the normal developmental process is, has either accelerated or gone further in the kids with the better cognitive stimulation," she said.

The most strongly affected region was the lateral left temporal cortex, which is on the surface of the brain, behind the ear. This region is involved in semantic memory, processing word meanings and general knowledge about the world.  https://www.theguardian.com/science/2012/oct/14/childhood-stimulation-key-brain-development

Porayar Thillaiaadi Valliammai  InfancyUni5Environment

Porayar is a samil village in Tamil nadu, South India. A School started in the name of a great freedom Fighter Ms. Thillaiaadi Valliammai in 1950 by  Mr. Muthuraman and Mr.Venkatesh family.

porayar school    It is very sad to see that even after 60 years after its inception, the school is in neglected, under developed condition. The two brothers family has tried their best to give the best.

The children study in a very dilapidated school building. The class rooms have no inspirationalmaterials and even basic learning tools.  The school has from kindergarden to 8th  grade. The children after that stop education and go for child labor.

porayar boardThere are several school children drop out due to alcoholic parents and also due to forced child labor. Infants of age group betwen 1 to 4 are unattented by working mothers.  There are no proper classrooms andso all children from age 3 to 11 occupy the same class room. The younger children distract the older ones and teachers find it very difficult to teach in class. It is a pity to see that the creative talents of the children are wasted without proper infra-structure.

We decide toporayar black boardgive Uni5 education for the smaller children so that with they will engage themselves with educative materials, leaving theolder children to learn.  Weare naming this infancy environment as Ms. Thillaiaadi ValliammaiUni5 Environment. It is a great honor to have her name because she was the one in South Africa who joined in freedom fight and tore a piece of her Sari containing three colors (Saffron White and Green) to be used a flag representing India.

We will impart the same quality of education we give at Sakthi Schools , in Sendurai village. We would need to payporayar classfor two teachers and also to set up the environment and run it every month. We would also inspire children to continue further education by supporting them tuition fees to attend higher secdonary education in the other towns.

We were touched with the demand of the children when asked they wanted us to do for them. They replied drinking water and a toilet. The children showed us the poorly maintianed toilet and wished we would construct a good one.

We intend to start he infancycenter by october 6th 2011. Weporayar-ins-schoolare sure that this will be beneficial for the children giving cultural values and academic knowledge.

We request you to support this project with your generous donations.
